Brayden's First Baseball Season

Brayden seems to want to follow in his Daddy's footsteps when it comes to a love for baseball. This was his first year playing in a league, and Jason coached. He had a great time, tried hard, and is looking forward to next year!

Rhylan Turns 3!

Our baby is 3!
It's hard to believe how quickly time has flown, and how much of a big boy he has become. This year he decided he wanted a Toy Story birthday party, and lucky for him, Toy Story 3 was premiering the week of his birthday! So what better than a party at the theatre?!
Mommy got in on the action and attempted her first ever homemade cupcakes (well, to be seen in public anyway)- the Little Green Men from the movie. I think from now on we will keep to hiring the cake making to a professional!

May 2010

May 2010

Ahhh, spring! It brings Mother's Day, Baseball, long weekends, and even some time at The Lake!

Brayden's kindergarten put on a wonderful Mother's Day performance by all of the kindergartners. It truly made this one of the most special Mother's Days yet for me.

May also brought "Geography Night" to Wolf Branch Elementary

Brayden's, eh hem, I mean Andres' class studied and presented about Mexico.

Brayden did quite well, and very much enjoyed playing his first season of baseball. Jason also enjoyed being able to be a coach for the team.

Mommy and Daddy enjoyed a long weekend in Chicago, with friends from here, for the Cards/Cubs series.

May also brought about warmer weather, and time with family at the lake!

April 2010

April 2010 brought our first Easter since moving. It was filled with some of our same traditions, but also brought about new adventures with new friends.

On a visit up north, all 3 cousins took their first bath together. Gotta just put it out there--- how much cuteness can fit in one tub?!?!?

April was also a time for some alone for Mommy and Daddy! Jason got to go on his very first cruise (which he thoroughly loved!), and we celebrated our anniversary and my birthday in the Bahamas. We had a wonderful time, and met some amazing people. I can honestly say I don't think it will be long before Jason is asking to plan our next one!

March 2010

March started off with our very first trip to The Science Center . We have become pretty regular patrons since then- this is one of the best science museums in the country. We are very lucky to have it SO close to home!

Brayden had to have his tonsils/adnoids taken out in March 2010. He had been having recurring bouts of illness and his "asthma type" symptoms had become increasingly worse over the past year or so. He was such a little trooper going in, and everyone we dealt with at Children's Hospital complimented him on his maturity. Again, another perk of where we live- we are within minutes of one of the top ranked hospitals for children in the entire country!

However, no matter how wonderful a facility may be, complications can arise-- especially in our family it seems. Brayden's simple, outpatient surgery turned into nearly a week in the hospital. He was discharged the day of the surgery, but that night developed a high fever and was completely irrational and violent (not his character!). Turned out that he had an infection, as well as dehydration, and was admitted back to Children's for several days. But in the end, it has been wonderful to have our normal, healthy and happy child ever since!

Well, the Atkissons may have taken the year off of going to Disney, but that didn't stop Disney from coming to us!! Rhylan got to see his very first Disney on Ice Show; and to say he loved it would be a complete understatement!
