Hey Good Lookin', Whatcha Got Cookin'??

Brayden continues to be an aspiring chef, and Rhylan seems to be following in his footsteps. They both love to be in the kitchen with me, go to their "Book Cooks" class, play in their own kitchen, etc. Brayden has a few of his own cookbooks, his favorite one being the one that Rhylan gave him for Christmas, which is a Disney cookbook. This weekend they decided to make "The Sky is Falling Apple Wraps" (one of Chicken Little's recipes) for lunch. Here they are making--- and Rhylan sampling--:

Mommy and Son Date Night

Brayden and I had a special date tonight to go see High School Musical (1 and 2) on Ice. As soon as he heard that his favorite movies were hitting the the area, live, on ice, he began asking to go. So, we made a night of it - just us. It was a really fun night, that I am sure we will both remember for quite a long time.

Sneak Peek for Spring

We are having our "official" Easter/Spring pictures taken by our regular (very talented) photographer/friend in a few weeks as a whole family. However, I took the boys in today to get a couple of shots to take to my home town with me this weekend because it had dawned on me that my Grandma hasn't seen them since before Thanksgiving, and they aren't coming home with me. Thank goodness for hour turn around time :-).

20 months- tub time

Every so often I try to post pictures of the boys at the same age, just to compare a bit. I didn't catch them in very similar poses, but here they are, side by side, at exactly (within a day or two) the same age. What do you think? Each thier own person, or look a lot alike at this age? I hear polar opposite responses everyday- some people say that Rhylan is a spitting image of Brayden, others say not at all.

More from Book Cooks

This was our last day of this session of Book Cooks. I am just in awe of how much our "baby" seems to be into this class, and enjoy it as much as his big brother always has. Technically, he is half the age that he is supposed to be to enroll, but I think I am going to see if I can get a waiver (LOL) for him to be in it next year, when big brother is off at kindergarten.

Mc Playdate

Jason has been working until 2-3 a.m. for the past 2+ weeks, so the kids and I have pretty much been on our own. To break up the monotony a bit, we met up with my friend and her kiddos for dinner at McDonald's. This was a HUGE treat for the boys, as they very, very rarely get to go to McDonald's (or any other fast food--- I know, I am a mean and terrible Mommy). Infact, when I told Brayden that we were meeting friends at one of his favorite places, and gave him hints as to what it was near, he totally drew a blank. Then when we pulled up, he gasped and said "You are taking us to McDonald's?? I LOVE YOU MOMMY".

It was even a bigger treat to be able to spend this fun night with such good friends. Brayden is the same age as her middle child (the older one wasn't in the mood to be in the pictures), and Rhylan and her baby are within weeks of each other as well.

Come on in, the water's fine.....

After a long hiatus (as in since the summer), the Atkisson boys once again took to the water this weekend for swimming lessons:

Rhylan was not the happiest baby in the pool for the majority of his lesson (for whatever reason). He was throwing a fit, up until the last 5 minutes or so, and then didn't want to get out.

Brayden did beautifully- he swam the entire length of the pool (and back) completely unassisted. The teacher went with him, with a floaty ready in case he got tired- but he never had to use it. We were a little worried about how he would do because we actually enrolled him in a higher level class than what he thought he would be. This was the only way to get both boys in lessons back to back vs. waiting around for a minimum of 2 hours between classes. He kept up with the higher level/bigger kids with no problem at all. He is definitely our little fish, loves the water.
